Set during the Civil War, Southern farmer Newt Knight (Matthew McConaughey) decides to rebel against the Confederacy by leading a rebellion with other farmers and slaves.
The Free State of Jones is directed by Gary Ross and also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keri Russell, Mahershala Ali, Brad Carter, and Sean Bridgers.
PLOT: A true story set against the Civil War and Reconstruction.
